This course teaches CPR skills for helping victims of all ages (including doing ventilations with a barrier device, a bag-valve-mask device and oxygen); use of an automated external defibrillator (AED); and relief of foreign body airway obstructions. It’s intended for participants who provide health care to patients in a wide variety of settings, including healthcare providers, first responders, medical or nursing students and even non-medical personnel such as school teachers or church groups. It is designed to be a 4-hour course.

The Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) provides emergency vehicle operators with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely operate an emergency vehicle in emergency and non-emergency mode. This course is required by the Mississippi Department of Health prior to operating an emergency vehicle.

CERT offers a consistent, nationwide approach to volunteer training and organization that professional responders can rely on during disaster situations, allowing them to focus on more complex tasks.
